The unbeaten record of Eric Chelle as coach of the senior national team of Nigeria remains intact with substitute Tolu Arokodare scoring a vital leveller to help the team to a 1-1 draw against Russia in an international friendly game, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

In a friendly that is nothing but ceremonial as it is not recognized by FIFA with Russia currently under a ban from international football owing to their invasion of Ukraine.

Nigeria fell behind in the 27th minute when Semi Ajayi turned a ball into the net of Nigeria in an attempt to clear a cross. His awkward clearance left Maduka Okoye with no chance of making a save.

The half ended with Nigeria trailing, forcing Chelle into a substitution replacing Victor Boniface with Tolu Arokodare, who ended up rescuing the game for Nigeria.

Arokodare pounced on a poor attempt by the goalkeeper of Russia to play out from the back by cutting out his pass, before toe poking his effort into an empty net. It ended up as the last goal of the game.
