The senior national team of Nigeria forced their host Russia to a 1-1 draw in an international friendly game played in the Russian city of Moscow, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Semi Ajayi diverted a Russian cross past goalkeeper Maduka Okoye to put his team behind in the 27th minute. That own goal was the only of the first half before Nigeria drew level through substitute Tolu Arokodare in the 71st minute.
We rate the players who played for Nigeria in the game.
Maduka Okoye – His best game in a Super Eagles shirt for a very long time. Made three very good saves to help Nigeria stay in the game. Couldn’t do anything about the goal…..8/10
Bright Osayi-Samuel – Not one of his strong performance for Nigeria. Jumped out of his line leaving space behind for the cross that was turned in by Ajayi. He was however very confident and decisive on the ball…..6/10
Bruno Onyemaechi – Looked really uncomfortable under pressure and his tackling wasn’t the best. Usually calm and assured on the ball , he showed no such today……6/10
William Troost-Ekong – Beaten for pace thrice and didn’t help the team build up from the rear with his long passes. Another poor performance from the captain…..4/10
Semi Ajayi – Didn’t loose a single duel and covered up for Ekong when he was caught out with pace. His ability to play the ball from the back also helped the team in build up play…..7/10
Frank Onyeka – Ran the entire length of the pitch with his usual energy. A strong showing in the middle of the pack with the duo of Raphael Onyedika and Uche Chrisantus……7/10
Raphael Onyedika – Never worried when under pressure. Beat the Russian press with ease and made a good statement to be a regular in the team…..8/10
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru – An underwhelming performance not helped with the fact that he was stationed on the right. Didn’t look comfortable at all…..6/10
Uche Chrisantus – His transition was top notch but didn’t create any opening. However his drive and tenacity made him stand out as one of the best in the first half for Nigeria……7/10
Moses Simon – A laboured performance but still manage to put in a shift especially in defense and helping the team press on the front foot……7/10
Victor Boniface – Once again didn’t help himself with another underwhelming performance. It’s hard to see how he will keep his spot in the team ahead of Cyriel Dessers……4/10
Substitutes:
Tolu Arokodare – A much better all around performance which he called with a goal. Capped it with a goal that was out of his awareness and determination to press……7/10
