Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface has been given another chance to make an impression at the German Bundesliga after a chaotic time last season, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Boniface saw a January move to Saudi Arabia side Al Nassr fall through after an agreement on terms by all parties involved. The club rather opted to sign Jhon DurĂ¡n from Aston Villa.

The Nigerian who had a storming first season at the club struggled to win back his spot after the failed transfer, with former coach Xabi Alonso picking Patrick Shick ahead of him.

Alonso’s replacement Erik Ten Hag was expected to maintain the same idea, but he has decided to rather pick the Nigerian again handing him a fresh start to reclaim the form that saw him win the Rookie of the year in Germany.

It takes the 24 year old out of the list of players of the senior national team of Nigeria, who are facing uncertain future at their respective clubs. The most prominent ones are five in number.

Kelechi Iheanacho of Sevilla tops the list after a failed loan spell in England with Middlesbrough, Samuel Chukwueze of AC Milan have been told he is free to look for another club after two underwhelming years in Italy.

At FC Porto Zaidu Sanusi have been told alongside five others that they can leave the club this summer. The case of Emmanuel Dennis at Nottingham Forest is also very straightforward with the club working on mutual termination of his contract after another poor spell on loan to Blackburn Rovers.

Back on loan Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka also goes into the list with his future highly uncertain despite the appointment of a new coach in Keith Andrews who replaced Thomas Frank now at the helm at Tottenham Hotspur. He did well in his short stay with Augsburg to command interest.
