The Nigeria women team booked a spot in the semi final of the ongoing Africa Women Cup of Nations with a comprehensive 5-0 win over Zambia in the quarter final.
Super Falcons wasted no time in getting off the block with Osinachi Ohale heading them in front less than two minutes into the game. Esther Okoronkwo who supplied the cross for the first goal got herself on the score sheet with a well taken strike in the box to give Nigeria a two goal lead.
That lead looked like what will be the score going into the half time break until Chinwendu Ihezuo showed good body strength to hold off her marker, before scoring Nigeria’s third in time added on.
Zambia returned for the second half a lot better, but were once again forced to bow to the superiority of the Nigerians, when Okoronkwo delivered another set piece, which was perfectly finished by central defender Oluwatosin Demehin eight minutes after the hour mark.
The Nigerians ensured that Zambia had no way back into the game with a fifth in time added on after regulation time, with Folashade Florence Ijamilusi tapping home at the far post to complete the rout.
