Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle has given a hint at the number of players he will prefer to have in the Super Eagles camp when they resume for the world cup qualifiers in September, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
The coach will be going all out with the Super Eagles in September as they seek to pick their first win at home against Rwanda, before travelling to South Africa for what looks like their most important game in the games left.
Chelle made it clear in an interview with Onzemondial that he is not the type who wants a large squad, saying a squad of 20 players will make it much more easier for him to pass his message, and also get to know the players better. “I like to have a group of 20 players. I want to have time to get to know the men and the players”, the coach said.
An apostle of the diamond formation, he went further to explain why he sees it as the best for teams that are set out to achieve results in an offensive setup.
“I like the 4-4-2 in diamond. I like to play with two strikers, have numerical superiority in midfield. Because already, there are not many teams that play with a diamond. So, we are still in numerical superiority in midfield. And then, I also like the flat 4-4-2 that turns 4-2-4 when you have the ball”.
