Antwerp 18 year old Nigerian striker Gabriel Jesus says a lot of people find it hard to believe he is a Nigerian because of his name, which sounds more like a Brazilian, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
A winter signing by the Belgium side form Nigerian academy P Sports Football Academy alongside his teammate Orseer Achihi. It is his name that has generated the most buzz.
” It’s not new to me anymore. People find it hard to believe that I am a Nigerian because of my name. I am slowly getting used to the question”, he told OwnGoalNigeria.com.
Jesus has also gotten used to scoring goals since the start of pre season training with the former champions of Belgium. The latest came in the 2-0 win over KAS Eupen. His Nigerian academy graduate and teammate Achihi scored the other goal in the pre season win.
Both players are hoping to play a prominent role for the team, when the season gets underway in Belgium by the weekend.
