Strasbourg have confirmed the signing of 20 year old Maximillian Rotimi Oyedele on a five year deal from Polish side Legia Warszawa, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

He spent just one year at the Polish side following his move from Manchester United before earning a transfer to France. Last season he made 18 appearances in the top division in Poland.

A defensive midfielder, he is eligible to play for three countries in Nigeria, Poland and England but so far he has only represented Poland at senior level in two games, after progressing through the youth ranks.

However he can still play for Nigeria because per FIFA rules on nationality switch, a player under 22-year-old can potentially switch nationality to represent another country in football, even after playing for a different national team, but under specific circumstances.

FIFA rules allow a player to switch if they have played no more than three competitive senior matches for their previous national team, and those appearances must have been before they turned 21. Additionally, at least three years must have passed since their last senior appearance for the former national team.

That means he is still available for a senior national team call up to the Nigerian team, but that will only be possible before he gets another senior cap for Poland. For now there have been no contact with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
