Recently capped Nigeria international midfielder Uche Chrisantus has made up his mind to stay at Getafe beyond the ongoing summer transfer window, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Uche who has two caps for Nigeria at senior level joined the Spanish side last season, but was pushing for a transfer away after one season at the club following interest from teams in England, Italy and Germany.

He snubbed offers from teams who were willing to match his buyout clause, insisting on a move to England which left the president of Getafe unhappy and angry with the Nigerian. He went as far as saying that the 22 year old doesn’t know what he wants.

“Uche doesn’t even know what he wants, it all depends on how he feels when he wakes up. Tomorrow [today], if he comes in, we’ll talk to him. It’s clear he wants to go to the Premier League. He has offers from Italy, but for some reason, he wants to go to the Premier League. He’ll tell us,” declared the Spanish club’s president Ángel Torres in remarks revealed by Ceuta TV.

However he appears to have now committed his future to the club after getting assurances that he will play in his preferred role in midfield, and not as a makeshift number 9 like he did last season.

The club have also handed him the jersey number 10 on the list of registered players posted on their website, with the start of the new season two weeks away from now.
