Nigeria international winger Samuel Kalu has become the 17th signing of Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv in the summer transfer window after spending over a year out without a club, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

The club announced that the 28 year old attacking player signed a long-term contract with the club after previous stints with Watford, Bordeaux, Gent, Trencin and Lausanne.

Capped 17 times by Nigeria at senior level, he was a part of the team to the 2019 AFCON where they finished third, but got to play only two games due to a health scare that happened on the eve of their first game when he slumped during training.

He secured a shock move to Watford but failed to make any appreciable headway leading to a loan move to Swiss side FC Lausanne, where his contract ran out and he wasn’t signed permanently.

Kalu has been without a club for over a year, before this move to the Bulgarian side where he will be hoping to regain the form that helped him crack the senior national team of Nigeria.
