Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle will make five changes to the Super Eagles team that started the last game against South Africa in the world cup qualifiers, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Nigeria drew 1-1 against South Africa further compounding their chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. Their hope now rest on results elsewhere going their way in the final two games of the series.

They also need to win their own games, starting from tomorrow’s game against Lesotho and Chelle is leaving no stone unturned with the hope that they will have the points necessary to take advantage of any slip from the top two.

Chelle will set out the team in the best way possible with five changes to the team that drew against South Africa. Top of it is team captain William Troost-Ekong dropping to the bench for the returning Semi Ajayi.

In the absence of Ola Aina, Benjamin Fredrick slots in at right back with Zaidu Sanusi favourite to start at left back following the deployment of Calvin Bassey to his original starting role as a centre back.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is unavailable through injury and his spot will go to fellow top striker Tolu Arokodare, while Cyriel Dessers who is also through injury will be replaced by Victor Osimhen in the starting lineup.
