Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle has been told to drop the captain of the team William Troost-Ekong for the final game in the world cup qualifiers against Benin Republic tomorrow in Uyo, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Team sources say Chelle is facing pressure from his backroom staff ahead of the game, with many saying Rohr’s knowledge of the centre back could spell doom for the team.
The fact that the game is crucial to their chances of qualifying for the world cup has put the coach in a dire situation, and currently he is pondering the idea of handing a start to Semi Ajayi to partner Benjamin Fredrick.
A decision is expected to be made after today’s training session. Although the idea is that Semi Ajayi who was a substitute in the last game will get the nod to start tomorrow after getting benched largely due to the fact that he is just returning from a long term injury.
One thing that we are however sure about is that the coach will stick with his four man attack with a little bit of change in the attack with Jerome Akor, who scored the second goal against Lesotho likely to start ahead of Tolu Arokodare as pair to Victor Osimhen in the team’s attack.
