Victory Over Lesotho, Benin Republic Power Super Eagles To New Spot In Latest FIFA Ranking

The wins the senior national team of Nigeria got over Lesotho and Benin Republic in the world cup qualifiers has shot them up in the latest ranking done by world football governing body FIFA, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Ranked 45th in the world last month, they move up to 41st in the world and more importantly broke into the top five highest ranked African country, largely due to the 2-1 win over Lesotho and the 4-0 win over Benin Republic.

It also puts them in a good position heading into the intercontinental playoff that is if they are able to pick the sole ticket from the Africa zone, which will take place in Morocco next month.

Super Eagles will be up against Gabon in one of the semi final with Cameroon taking on Congo Dr in the other semi final. The winner of the mini tournament will represent Africa at the playoff in March next year, where the top two teams will pick a ticket to the world cup.
