The agent of Brentford defender Michael Kayode says his client is fully focused on playing for Italy in the wake of calls for the 21 year old to be approached by Nigeria, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Reports in the Nigerian media have been all about his eligibility to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria after his performance for Brentford in their 3-2 win over Liverpool.
However if the word of his agent is anything to go by its clear that the defender has already made up his mind to play for Italy, where he is already a full youth international from U15-U21 level.
He was clear to point out that Kayode is high on the radar of coach of Italy Gennaro Gattuso and will likely be a part of the next selection for the November international break.
” The coach (Gattuso ) is aware of his progress and watched him four months ago at the U21 Euros. So it’s a matter of maybe the next international window or later in the year”, Andrea Ritorni said.
His statement effectively means there is no chance of the defender playing for the senior national team of Nigeria.
