The first choice goalkeeper of Cameroon national team Andre Onana is surprised at the omission of his teammate Paul Onuachu from the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming world cup qualifiers playoff in Morocco, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Onana who is on loan from Manchester United to the Turkish side is surprised that the striker who has 8 goals in 12 games this season, including one in their 1-1 draw against Alanyanspor on Saturday isn’t in the Nigerian team .
Despite getting preliminary invitation, Onuachu was overlooked by head coach Eric Chelle in his final list of players with the trio of Victor Osimhen, Tolu Arokodare and Jerome Akor picked to lead the team’s assault for goals at the tournament.
Reacting to Onana’s post as he jets out to join the Cameroon team in Morocco, Onuachu wished him farewell which Onana responded with ” why are you not coming” under his post.
The lanky striker hasn’t played for Nigeria under Chelle with his last appearance coming in 2023 under then coach Finidi George.
