Players of the senior national team of Nigeria have refused to file out for training in protest over unpaid bonuses ahead of Thursday world cup qualifiers playoff game against Gabon, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
A few days ago we reported our conversation with a senior player in the team, who revealed that they have not received a single bonus for almost two years.
He cited the world cup qualifiers in particular saying they haven’t received a penny as bonus from the start of the group stages to now that they are in the playoff.
” I am not sure anyone is thinking about bonuses in the team , because we haven’t been paid for two years. Most people don’t know that but it’s not enough reason not to honour the call up or put in your best when you play for Nigeria”, he told OwnGoalNigeria.com.
” I wasn’t in the team for the Unity Cup or the friendly game against Russia but I reliably gathered that no one was paid a dime. It’s been the same story for two years now”, he concluded.
