The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) says five players were the driving force behind the decision of players of the Super Eagles to boycott training yesterday ahead of tomorrow’s world cup qualifiers playoff game against Gabon, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Players of the team refused to leave their hotel room Morocco as a means of protest over unpaid bonuses, from the AFCON qualifiers and also the group stage of the world cup qualifiers. They however returned to training today.

A top official of the NFF says the football body has already identified five players who were at the fore front of the boycott, but says no decision will be taken against them.

” Five players were the push behind the decision and we know them. However there will be no punishment because it was a team decision due to a lack of proper communication and broken trust”, he told OwnGoalNigeria.com.

” As a football body we should have done better with the way it was handled but we pray it doesn’t derail the team from the ticket to represent Africa at the Intercontinental playoff”.
