English Premier League side Brighton are going to test the resolve of Brentford in holding on to Nigeria international defender Benjamin Fredrick with a bid of around £5m, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Fredrick has been a revelation for Nigeria in the world cup qualifiers, with impressive performances in all of the games he has played and looked certain to be a regular for the team at the AFCON in December.
On loan to Belgium side FC Dender from Brentford, a couple of teams have made enquiries about signing the 20 year old but none has been bold enough like Brighton who are willing to pay £5m.
Signed from Kaduna based Academy Simoiben, owned by the wife (Ibukun Simon ) of Nigeria international Moses Simon, Brentford are adamant that he has a future with the club and will be given his chance next season.
German side RB Leipzig were top among the teams to sound out the defender, who is comfortable as a right back or centre back but were told in clear terms that he isn’t for sale.
