
Ademola Lookman has played down any suggestion of a rift with his international teammate after their spat on the pitch during the Super Eagles 4-0 win over Mozambique in the round of 16 at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Osimhen who scored a brace in the game, with Ademola Lookman and Akor Adams rounding up the convincing win for Nigeria, but it was over shadowed by a bust up between Osimhen and Lookman.
Angry at the decision of Bruno Onyemaechi not to pass the ball to him in a promising position, Osimhen was told to calm down by Lookman who was also at the receiving end of a verbal rant by Osimhen a few minutes earlier.
His attempt to quell the disagreement was rebuffed by Osimhen, who had to be held by his teammates from going physical with Lookman, he subsequently stopped playing and asked to be subbed off.
At the post match conference, Lookman was asked about the incident and he was quick to play it down , and instead praised Osimhen as the team’s number one guy. “I have not seen Osimhen but I don’t think that matters, Vic is our number one guy, everybody knows this, he’s a top striker. So, all of that doesn’t matter”.
