The head coach of Morocco Walid Regragui will be an unhappy man after Nigeria defeated Algeria 2-0 to set up a semi final cash against his team , who are the host of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria made light work of the challenge of Algeria with a comprehensive 2-0 win made possible largely by the effort of top striker Victor Osimhen, who scored and gave an assist in the dominant win.

He opened the scoring in the 47th minute with a well placed header from a Bruno Onyemaechi cross. It was the first goal that the goalkeeper of Algeria Luca Zidane has conceded in the tournament.

Osimhen turned provider for the second goal by latching onto a defence splitting pass from Alex Iwobi to set up Jerome Akor , who rounded the goalkeeper before slotting into an empty net.

“At this stage of the competition, we don’t have any preferences. They are two (Algeria and Nigeria) great footballing nations, two teams with two different styles. We’ll adapt to whoever is there. Now, if it’s Algeria, it will be a real derby. I think it will even be a historic semi-final. It would be great for football too, between two brotherly nations.

“So, if it’s them, we’ll be very happy because it will be a great celebration. If it’s Nigeria, it will be our style. We don’t wish anyone on anyone. The best team will advance, and we’ll have to face the best to go all the way.” he said when asked the team he will preferred to meet after his team’s win over Cameroon in yesterday’s quarter final.
