Carney Chukwuemeka is yet to make a decision to represent Austria at the world cup with Nigeria the first to show interest also keen on his services, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Born in Austria to parents of Nigerian descent, the 22 year old grew up in England where he represented their youth team at various levels, but still remains eligible to play for either Austria or Nigeria at senior level.
Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle made contact with his representative on the possibility of switching his nationality to Nigeria, and talks were said to be well advanced.
However Austria according to several reports have now approached him, with the added incentive of representing them at the world cup in June, an opportunity that isn’t possible with Nigeria who failed to qualify.
Despite the obvious advantage, Chukwuemeka who has played in 19 games in the German Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund is taking his role to make a decision on the best option for his international career.
