Head coach of Turkish side Galatasaray Okan Buruk says the team made a huge decision when they decided to spend €75m on the permanent signing of Nigeria international striker Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
After a productive loan spell two seasons ago from Napoli, Osimhen made a permanent switch to the Turkish side in the summer for a fee considered by many as outlandish by a Turkish side.
Yesterday he showed why the club took a huge gamble on him with two assists in their shock 5-2 win over Juventus in the UEFA Champions League round of 32 playoff.
He how has four goals and two assists in six UEFA Champions League games, playing a leading role as the team chase a spot in the round of 16 of Europe’s premier club tournament.
“Osimhen is a fantastic player. He is a team player. He is not someone who plays for the score. He can play in all leagues. He was a dream for Galatasaray. We paid 75 million euros, a record fee for the Turkish League. We spent all our money on him”, he said while reacting to the performance of the Nigerian yesterday.
