Brentford defender Michael Kayode is one player that head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle has high on his list of players he wants to commit to his team, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Born in Italy to parents of Nigerian descent, the 21 year old is having a stellar season with Brentford, and as expected it had brought up discussions about his international future as he is still eligible for Nigeria despite representing Italy at different youth levels.
Chelle already made approaches to the defender, and will once again pitch his case at the end of the season, but that is entirely dependant on what head coach of the Italian national team Gennaro Gattuso.
If Gattuso calls Kayode for their upcoming world cup qualifiers playoff, then that will be it for Nigeria. However if otherwise then the meeting at the end of the season will be pivotal to his international future.
For now there is no clear indication that he will be in the team, leaving the door open for a possible switch of Nationality to Nigeria.
