The recent run of Paul Onuachu in front of goal for Turkish side Trabzonspor has brought discussions about why he isn’t able to replicate the same form for the senior national team of Nigeria, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Onuachu has been in excellent form this season with 21 goals in 23 league games. In all competitions he has 23 goals in 26 games, including scoring in ten consecutive games .

Meanwhile for the senior national team of Nigeria he has four goals in 34 games since making his debut in 2019. He has also played in two senior tournament where he has just one goal.

” Club football is totally different from international football. We train mostly with Osimhen as the main man than with Onuachu. So we play more to his strength. That’s how I see it”, a Super Eagles player revealed.

Another player said it’s really hard to provide an explanation but feels Paul hasn’t had a long run in the team to show his true colours, hence always under pressure to deliver when he gets to play.

” It’s totally different if you ask me. Paul like most strikers in the team have not been given a regular run of game. They have been in and out unlike Osimhen who has been three for a while. There is a different kind of pressure a player who isn’t a regular faces”, a member of the team to the recent AFCON explained.
