Former coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr says Paris FC midfielder Moses Simon has done what no Nigerian player has ever done in the history of the French Ligue 1, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Simon has spent six years in the top division in France playing for modest teams in Nantes and now Paris FC. He had somehow maintained his relevance at both teams.
Over the weekend he provided an assist in their shock 4-1 win over Monaco taking his tally to 36 goals and 41 assists in 203 Ligue 1 games. A record which makes him the first Nigerian to achieve such a milestone.
” No Nigerian has ever done it in the Ligue 1. Simon has been here for six years and all the time he has played regularly. It’s not usual for Nigerian players to do that in France and he did it”, Rohr said.
” You can look at Nantes without Simon and see where they are. Look at Paris FC a newly promoted team and see where they are. It tells you his importance to the teams he has played for in France”, he stated.
