Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye picked up his third consecutive clean sheets in the Italian Serie A over the weekend following a 3-0 win over AC Milan, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
He made his return to the Nigerian team during the last international break, after snubbing an invitation to be a part of the team for the AFCON that ended in January.
Okoye was in goal for the first game against Iran at the four team invitational tournament, which ended in a 2-1 win for the Nigerian team. He left before the second game after picking a knock in training.
The former first choice goalkeeper says he is now prime for an extended time with the national team, where he will rival Stanley Nwabali, Francis Uzoho and new boy Arthur Okonkwo for the number 1 spot.
“I was so pleased to be called up to the national team. It’s important to me as a player and as a person. I want to return many more times ,” Okoye said on Udinese Tonight, via the club’s official website.
