Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan have been linked with a move for two players of the senior national team of Nigeria in the summer transfer window, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Inter are expected to begin a rebuild in their defence and also in attack when the summer transfer window opens, after their failure this year in the UEFA Champions League.

Although they are on course to win the Serie A, there are concerns that the team doesn’t have what it takes to compete against the elite in Europe, hence the decision to target new players in certain positions.

Centre back is a key area in their planning with Alessandro Bastoni linked with a departure to Barcelona. If the deal happens their ideal replacement will be Nigeria international defender Calvin Bassey.

Bassey will be entering the final year of his deal with Fulham at the start of next season, although the club have the option of extending it for a year. For now there has been no movement on extending his deal leaving him open to offers.

In attack, there are plans by the hierarchy of Inter Milan to make a move for Jerome Akor Adams of Sevilla. They are confident that the Spanish side will be open to cashing in on the forward to ease their financial burdens, especially if they get relegated.
