The hero for Nigeria in their 2-0 win over Zimbabwe Femi Azeez is eligible to play for three countries in Spain, England and Nigeria, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Azeez made an instant impression for Nigeria in his debut game with two well taken goals in both halves. The first with his left and the second with his right to help Nigeria seal a spot in the final of the friendly tournament.
Azeez was born in England to a Nigerian father and a Spanish mother. Making him eligible for all three teams but until yesterday when he played for Nigeria he wasn’t capped by any of the national teams.
Speaking after his match winning brace, the representative of the winger, who was key in his decision to represent Nigeria said there was the option of not just waiting for England but also Spain.
” When you have three options it’s nice to have. Spain was an option just like England and he could have decided to wait because he is still very young. However at 24 he has made up his mind on his international career and no going back”, he said.
” Yesterday’s brace is the start of what we hope will be more goals in the colours of Nigeria. His attention is now on the final game”, he concluded.
