Benjamin Fredrick was handed a recall to the senior national team of Nigeria for the high profile friendly games against Poland and Portugal respectively by head coach Eric Chelle, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Fredrick missed the entirety of the second half of last season after picking up a meniscus injury during training with FC Dender where he was on loan from English Premier League side Brentford.

He has since returned to full fitness, and was included in the team for the games in June by Chelle but was stopped from honouring the games by Brentford.

The club has already informed the player’s representative that he will be in their squad for next season, hence they want him fully rested and ready for the start of pre season training.

Chelle was informed of the decision by the club, and he respected it knowing having the recently turned 21 year old in his team for competitive games later in the year is the ultimate goal.

Since making his debut at the Unity Cup around this time last year, he started in all of the eight competitive games he played for Nigeria before missing out on the AFCON due to injury.
