One of the breakout star of the recently concluded Unity Cup friendly tournament in London was Millwall winger Femi Azeez who played for the senior national team of Nigeria at the tournament, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Azeez scored a brace on his debut in the 2-0 win over Zimbabwe, and followed that up with an assist in the final game which was a 3-0 win against Jamaica ensuring that they successfully defended their title.
Head coach of the Nigerian team Eric Chelle wasted no time in adding him to his squad for the friendly games against Poland and Portugal respectively, but the 24 year old won’t be available.
Sources said he is expected to complete a transfer in the coming days to a team in the English Premier League, and will need the June break to speak and sort things out with his representatives.
Newly promoted Ipswich Town failed with a bid for his signing, but teams like Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Leeds United are said to be also in the race for his signing in the summer transfer window.
