Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle has reacted to his team’s 1-2 loss to Portugal in a friendly game in Lisbon, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Nigeria were narrowly beaten by the world cup bound team with Akor Adams getting Nigeria’s lone goal of the game. It was the first defeat the team has suffered in regulation time under Jose Peseiro.
The coach is however not bothered about the result after learning some things in the game, which he said is the main aim of a game of that magnitude.
” You have to look at the lessons learnt when you lose to a very good team and Portugal ranks among the best in the world and it’s why they are among the favourites for the world cup”, Chelle said.
• The games afforded us the chance to see some new players and also how some will cope under pressure. It was a good test for our team and congratulations to Portugal for the win. It’s nice to play a team like this”, he stated.
