Former coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro has lost out in his bid to be one of the assistant of new coach of Real Madrid Jose Mourinho, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Peseiro assisted Mourinho at the club during his first stint and he was among the names touted in the media to join him for one more swing at the Spanish giants.
However Mourinho has now picked his former midfielder at the club Sami Khedira to work with him as his assistant, effectively ruling out Peseiro as one of his backroom staff.
The coach who led Nigeria to a second place finish at the AFCON two years ago will now focus on keeping his job at second division Saudi Arabia side Al- Ula FC, where there are doubts over his future after their failure to gain promotion.
A statement is expected to be made in the coming days by the management of the team who finished 4th in the regular season.
