Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle has picked three major areas where he wants more options in his team after the recent round of friendly games, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Nigeria started their run of games in the summer with a successful defence of the Unity Cup title in London beating Zimbabwe 2-0 before a 3-0 win over Jamaica in the final.
They travelled to Poland and drew 2-2 in another friendly game. Chelle suffered his first defeat in regulation time as coach of the team when they narrowly lost 1-2 to Portugal in their final test game of the summer.
Chelle has now prioritize three areas where the team need more ideas or fresh legs to bring something different to the current crop in the position.
Left back is one of the key areas with Bruno Onyemaechi needing an able deputy after Zaidu Sanusi’s poor showing. The FC Porto man has not been able to win his shirt back since losing it at the AFCON.
We can also exclusively reveal that he is looking for a new number 10 to understudy Alex Iwobi, after noticing that they fail to create anything meaningful whenever the Fulham man is having a bad game or not available.
A new top striker in the mould of Victor Osimhen is also high on his list of priorities. He presently sees the duo of Terem Moffi and Akor Adams as supporting strikers at best, and wants an able deputy to Osimhen in attack with Paul Onuachu failing to impress him.
