Ahead of fresh elections into the board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) a top source in the National Sports Commission (NSC) says there is an order from the presidency for the current president Ibrahim Musa Gusua not to be re elected, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Gusau is keen on another four year term as president believing that his reforms deserve another term, despite the team’s failure to qualify for the World Cup.
It appears his desire isn’t in tandem with people close to the president of Nigeria Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and they have passed the information to the NSC on their desire for a change of leadership in the NFF.
The source said the NSC has supported the NFF more than ever since the coming of this adminstration, and the president feels disappointed that despite all they failed to qualify for the world cup.
In response he has told them to use the next elective congress of the NFF to effect a change, by ensuring that the Gusau led board doesn’t get another tenure.
