Everton midfielder Tim Iroegbunam has taken the first step towards playing for the senior national team of Nigeria, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Born in England to parents of Nigerian descent, the 23 year old has represented England at youth level. The last of which came in 2024 when he played for the U20.

Last season he had his big break at Everton playing a total of 29 games with three assists from his role as a central midfielder. He believes it’s about time he make a decision on his international future.

We can exclusively reveal that contacts have been made with his representatives and the initial response was very positive. He is seen by head coach of the Nigerian team Eric Chelle as a long term replacement for Wilfred Ndidi.

The camp of the player will now seek to go further by applying for a change of nationality from England to Nigeria, a process that will likely go through before the end of the year.
