
19 year old Nigeria defender Akpe Victory has completed his move to Swiss giants FC Basel from Hungarian side Zalaegerszeg, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
The giants defender was a free signing from Lithuanian side Banga last summer, and in just one season he emerged as one of the most sought after player in the Hungarian League.
Three teams in Scottish giants Rangers, Portugese power house Benfica and Turkish side Trabzonspor were all linked with a move for him, but FC Basel won the race for his signing.
Picked in the list of U23 foreign players by head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria, who also doubles as the coach of the U23. He is expected to be a core of the team pushing to qualify Nigeria for the Olympic football event for the first time since 2016.
He signed a five year deal with the option of another year , and will join the team’s pre season camp for next season where they will play in the UEFA Champions League, and also look to defend their league title.
