The Nigeria U17 team got their campaign at the Four team Invitational tournament in China underway with a 2-3 defeat to Tanzania in their opening game, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

It’s the first assignment for newly appointed head coach Eboboritse Uwejamomere and after almost a month of camping in Abuja, they were handed the chance of testing themselves at the tournament in China.

A scout who watched the game revealed that while the Nigerian team were obviously the more talented side, they were undone by the physical nature of the Tanzanians.

In his words, the Tanzanians relied more on their physicality while Nigeria were by far the better side tactically and also technically. He believe they have learnt a thing or two from the defeat.

He advised the coach to sort the physicality issue of the team when they get back to Nigeria, with more players as it could be useful when they play in the WAFU B tournament, which is the qualifiers for the U17 AFCON.
