French side Stade Reims have completed a deal for Nigerian defensive midfielder John Otomewo from Hapoel Jerusalem, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Otomewo has already undergone a routine medical and will travel to France on the 14th of July, where he will complete the process of the deal, and subsequently unveiled by the club
The 19-year-old impressed in the holding midfield role for the Israeli Ligat ha’Al side, and Reims feel he will aid their push to gain promotion back to the French top division at the end of next season.
Born in Sapele, the right-footed midfielder has established himself in the Israeli top flight this season, making 13 league appearances and adding minutes in the relegation round as Hapoel fought to secure their status. He has also shown an eye for goal in knockout competition, scoring once in the State Cup.
We can exclusively reveal that he is among the players pencilled down by head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle for the U23 team. Chelle also doubles as the coach of the team.
Otomewo joined Hapoel Jerusalem senior team in December 2025 after initially arriving at the clubs under-19 side earlier in the season.
