23 year old Nigeria international striker Rafiu Durosinmi is heading towards the exit at Belgium side Genk, six months after he joined the team from Viktoria Plzen of Czech Republic, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
According to Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad, he is Genk’s transfer priority, and they are ready to pay 10.5 million euros to make him their most expensive signing in the history of the club.
Pisa signed Durosinmi from Plzen earlier this year for around €11 million including bonuses. The burly Nigerian has not made a significant impact on the Apennine Peninsula, scoring just one goal and one assist in 12 league games.
Despite the poor return Genk believe he is worth that much as they have been following his progress right from his days in Czech Republic, and see him in the mould of Paul Onuachu and Tolu Arokodare, two Nigerians who achieved big things at the club.
He has a contract with Pisa until 2030. However, after the club’s relegation to Serie B, he is looking for a new challenge, according to Belgian media he is open to joining Genk. Negotiations are complicated, but the Italian club has already reduced its financial demands in recent days.
