The Premier League is home to huge numbers of the best soccer players from around the world. In terms of national representation, Nigeria stands 15th with the 2026/27 season on the way.

For now, there are ten players to make up 2.5 percent of all players in the division. While that figure might change in the rest of the transfer window, there are more Nigerians here than Americans, Norwegians, or Japanese.

With the World Cup in the books, we can now look to the prestigious domestic campaigns in Europe, with the fixtures released and kick-off not far away for several of the best Super Eagles players around.

Where to Follow the Premier League Action

Premier League broadcast deals are the stuff of legend in sports. The equal share part of the payments structure for clubs amounted to £596 million from UK income alone. Internationally, the league is even bigger.

From international payments, the 20 teams get to split £1.184 billion, which goes on top of the UK’s equal share. This format, with only facility fees and merit varying, allows a club to earn a minimum of £109.2 million each year.

International TV deals funnelling in this cash include cash from broadcasters like ESPN, TNT Sports, Fox, NBC Sports, Canal+, Saran Media, DAZN, Viaplay, and beIN Sports. Across Sub-Saharan Africa, it’s SuperSport with the rights.

However, part of the league’s success comes down to its expansion into digital platforms and deals with primarily digital providers, like DAZN. Even those without a direct deal with the Premier League also tap into this angle.

For example, across a live casino site has expanded into sports games. While game shows or classic tables get played, soccer fans are also covered, with games tailored to this theme. Games like Sports Arena Live Lobby, Sports Unlimited Blackjack, and Football Roulette Live now headline this new category of casino games.

Of course, social media platforms have also become a key way for fans to keep up with the football. Clips from games are shared far and wide, collecting millions of engagements for the official and unofficial channels.

When to Watch Super Eagles on Opening Weekend

Super Eagles take to the field across the opening weekend of the 2026/27 Premier League season. Arguably, the best two Nigerian players in the division will be seeing out the weekend.

Playing for Fulham, the forever motivated Calvin Bassey will almost certainly start the game at Craven Cottage under new manager Alvaro Arbeloa. Now 30-years-old, we’ll likely see Alex Iwobi in the middle of the park, too.

They’ll be taking on Chelsea and their new boss, Xabi Alonso, on Monday, August 24. Before that, another two Super Eagles could be spotted on Saturday, August 22 for Nottingham Forest.

Taiwo Awoniyi will be hoping for more starts next season with Oliver Glasner now at the helm, while Ola Aina looks primed for a starting role when the new season starts.

Newly-promoted Hull City could call upon a couple of Nigerians, too. Also playing on the Saturday, David Akintola could feature on the right wing in the game at Old Trafford while Semi Ajayi will probably start.

Also newly promoted, Frank Onyeka will feature in midfield for Coventry on the first day. Enduring a real trial by fire to start the season, Coventry City will go to face Arsenal at the Emirates on Friday, August 21.

Bundle in up-and-coming stars at Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Sunderland, and there’ll be plenty of top Nigerian talents battling away from the first whistle of this new Premier League season.
