Nigeria international forward Kelechi Iheanacho shocked many when he decided to join second division Turkish side Bursaspor as a free agent, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Iheanacho’s one year deal at Scottish side Celtic expired at the end of the season making him available to other teams. Celtic took the lead by making it clear that they want to extend his deal and offered him a fresh two year deal.
However the offer was said to be on a reduced wage, which is almost half of what he earned in his first year at the club, meanwhile the 30 year old was pushing for an increased pay.
Bursaspor who have long have an interest in him were made aware of his unhappiness with what Celtic offered. A source described it as a disrespectful offer.
Informal talks were held with his representative who flouted their salary demand, and were left stunned when the Turkish side accepted to pay and had no choice but to inform the player who accepted the move.
