The decision by Nigeria international striker Akor Adams to swap LaLiga side Sevilla newly promoted Italian Serie A side Venezia was made possible by the recent acquisition of the club by hip hop icon Drake.
Drake acquired a significant minority stake in Venezia FC in the summer of 2024 through an investment group called APEX Capital.
His initial involvement helped financially save the club from bankruptcy, and he later facilitated a massive €100 million fundraising effort led by sports executives Tim Leiweke and Francesca Bodie.
Adams as seen as the first step towards making people take notice of the club, and we can exclusively reveal that he will earn almost three times his current pay when his €16m transfer is made official.
His acquisition will be followed by some other top signings before the close of the ongoing summer transfer window, with the club keen on following in the footsteps of Como by breaking new grounds as a newly promoted team.
