English Premier League side Crystal Palace have agreed a deal for the transfer of Maxence Lacroix to Chelsea for a fee reportedly in the region of £50m, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

His departure means the club are now light in options at centre back with Marc Guehi also departing the team in the January transfer window to Manchester City.

They are now searching for options and among their prime target is 22 year old Nigerian defender Chibuike Nwaiwu, who made his debut during the last international break.

The Trabzonspor defender has been tracked by fellow English Premier League side Fulham, and after seeing their initial bid rejected talks are currently ongoing after another bid that is close to the valuation of the Turkish side.

However the interest of Palace could bring a shift in talks , although he is seen as plan B and they will only make a move if they fail to get Chrislain Matsima from German Bundesliga side Augsburg.
