Newly invited Nigeria international striker Abdullahi Umar says he has his sights on scoring for Nigeria if he gets to play tomorrow in the friendly game against Russia, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

The 19 year old caught the attention of the rest of Europe with his performances for Czech Republic side Hradec Kralove in the Europa League qualifiers and also the Conference League qualifiers where he scored twice against Greek side Panathinaikos.

However last season was when he announced himself in Czech Republic with 25 goals in 29 games for the U19 in the youth league, hence his elevation to the first team this season.

Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle has him down to lead the line for his U23 team, but want to use the friendly game against Russia to run the rule on him.

Umar is presently in Moscow training with the team head of the game, and in an exclusive chat with Owngoalnigeria.com he opened up on the moniker ” New Osimhen” and also what he will see as a dream debut at the international stage.

” They started calling me the new Osimhen last season and to me that is a very big compliment, but I rather wish to be know as Abdullahi Umar until I am able to walk in the steps of a legend like Osimhen”, he said.

• To me a dream international debut will be to score against Russia, but that’s a personal goal which isn’t as strong as seeing the team win. The team always comes first and I am ready to work for the good of the team”, he stated.
