A much changed Super Eagles team fought gallantly from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with the senior national team of Russia in an international friendly game in Moscow, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Nigeria without almost all their senior players in the starting lineup bar Moses Simon took an early lead in the 10th minute through Kelechi Iheanacho, following a lay off from Abdullahi Bewene.

Nigeria’s lead didn’t last until the half time break with Russia scoring twice to end the half 3-1, leaving the Eric Chelle side with a lot of work to do in the second half.

At the start of the half another lapse in defence proved costly as Russia scored a third to increase their lead to 3-1. A scoreline that looked almost impossible to recover from.

However substitute Peter Edokpolor showed no nerves with a brilliant solo goal to bring scores to 3-2, before Akor Adams another substitute ensured that Nigeria avoided defeat with the leveller in the final minute of the game.

His goal largely due to the good works of another debutant in Umar Abdullahi who showed good pace to go past his marker before crossing for Akor to tap in.
