Banik Ostrava right back Abdullahi Bewene has been drafted into the main Super Eagles team for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers games against Tanzania in November, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Bewene has three senior caps for Nigeria, but all came in friendly games against Poland, Portugal and Russia respectively. He gave account of himself in all games and has now been handed a chance for his competitive debut.
Sources close to Eric Chelle say the coach has been largely impressed with his performance in all the games he has played, and believe he can cope with the pressure of playing in a competitive game.
Although he faces competion for a starting spot with Ola Aina ahead of all options in that position. Chelle is of the opinion that the 21 year old can be a worthy competitor in that position.
The decision to move him to the main team for the games in November, is coming on the heels of reports that Chelle is considering dropping Bright Osayi-Samuel after his poor performance against Guinea-Bissau.
