Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle who also doubles as the coach of the U23 team of Nigeria has continue with his drive to recruit players of Nigerian descent for his team, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
The coach has already succeeded in convincing Fulham’s midfielder Chibuzo Nwoko to commit to Nigeria, and he made his debut in the 3-3 friendly draw against Russia.
Although he played for the senior team in the above mentioned game, the idea with him is to see him play for the U23 team who will be in action in November for the U23 AFCON qualifiers.
Aside from Nwoko, we can exclusively reveal that Jamaldeen Jimoh-Alaba who had his breakthrough last season at Aston Villa is in his plans. He scored in the Europa League last season.
He made four first team appearances before dropping a level to the English Championship, where he made ten appearances, before returning to Villa.
The only reason why including him in the squad for the Olympic qualifiers will be difficult is that he requires a switch of nationality process after representing England at various youth levels.
