Head coach of the U23 team of Nigeria Eric Chelle has added more foreign based players to the Nigeria U23 team ahead of the start of the U23 AFCON qualifiers in November, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Chelle had ten of the players he intends to use in the game against DR Congo in the Super Eagles main team that drew 3-3 with Russia, in an international friendly game last week.
We can exclusively reveal that the coach has decided to add more players picked from clubs abroad in his final 25 man list for the two legged game.
Also sources close to the coach revealed that Brentford defender Benjamin Fredrick is the coach’s choice to be captain of the team, but will likely not be available for these games as he will be involved with the Super Eagles against Tanzania.
The team won’t be made up of entirely players based abroad with six players picked from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) also expected to be included.
