The poor performance of the Nigerian U17 team in yesterday’s 1-2 defeat to Niger Republic has drawn a reaction from a top scout who was seconded to the tournament by top teams in Europe, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Niger Republic were by far the better side with the Nigerian side fortunate to score a late consolation goal after going two goals down. A shocking display from Nigeria who are the global king of this particular tournament.
Their poor performance left the scout disappointed, and in a chat revealed he was left shocked by the lack of quality in the Nigerian team especially as he couldn’t find one standout player in the team.
He said he sat not to far away from the Nigerian coach who wasn’t on the bench due to issues about his coaching licence (UEFA B), which isn’t recognised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
” Maybe I am over reacting but no Nigerian team should be this poor at this level. Individually there was nothing to take from them unlike Niger Republic who had one or two, but you can’t really judge them because the Nigerian team were very poor”, he said.
