Nigeria international striker Kelechi Iheanacho has set a new goal scoring record in Turkish football with his brace for Bursaspor in their 3-0 win away to Muğlaspor, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

The brace took his goal count for the club to 14 in the league from the first opening ten games of the season. A run that has seen him score in every single game.

He goes into Turkish football record books as the first player to score in ten consecutive games in the history of Turkish football, surpassing the feat of Metin Oktay who scored in 9 consecutive matches in the Süper Lig in the 1962-1963 season for Galatasaray, and Saffet Sancaklı did so in the 1995-1996 season in a Kocaelispor jersey.

A free signing from Scottish side Celtic in the summer transfer window, his recent run earned him a return to the senior national team of Nigeria where he scored in the 3-3 draw against Russia in a friendly game last week.

Also top teams around Europe and also in Asia have been alerted of his exploits increasing the prospect of a move away from Bursaspor, even if they eventually gain promotion at the end of the season.
