Former Super Eagles defender Efe Ambrose has heap praises on Abdullahi Umar for his performance in Nigeria’s 3-3 draw against Russia, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Umar was introduced as a substitute in the game with Nigeria trailing 1-3 and he immediately brought an injection of pace, power and directness, which he capped with an assist for Akor Adams for the third goal.

Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle who also doubles as the coach of the U23 called up the 19 year old Hradec Kralove of Czech Republic forward to properly assess him, ahead of the Olympic qualifiers in November.

Speaking on the performance, Ambrose who won the 2013 AFCON with Nigeria said he did enough to provoke memories of when legendary forward and captain Ahmed Musa broke into the team.

” He was very direct and played without fear. He had two attempts at goal after coming on as a substitute before setting up the leveller. My mind went back to a young Ahmed Musa when he made his debut. I haven’t heard about him until that day and it’s the same with Musa when he broke into the Super Eagles in 2011″, the former Celtic defender said.
